In March of 1973 Chrysler released the VJ Charger which was essentially a mild facelift of the popular VH Charger. The VJ exterior upgrade was limited to a new grille with round headlights and modified tail lights. The interior gained a new dash pad and the instrument panel from the 770 Series VH Charger, plus revised seats and trim patterns. Chrysler advised customers they could build an R/T by using the E48 6 Pack 265 Hemi engine option. Subtle side stripes, a rear stripe divided into six sections and the 6 Pack badge distinguished the VJ from its predecessor.
