By lap 4 every one had settled into race order. Lap 14, the drama began for Bartlett, slowly making his way to the pits for a lengthy brake change, his first of three for the day. The rear brakes would fail on lap 105, Bartlett came up behind the second Country Dealer Team Gemini hitting it, causing the Gemini to flip! Bartlett continued to race but retired on lap 159. He thoroughly blamed CAMS for the incident. The following year CAMS agreed to allow Camaros to run rear disc brakes.
